Kunkle 189C Safety Valve — 1/2″ x 3/4″ FNPT, Threaded Cap, 1,000-2,500 PSIG (Air/Gas ASME Section VIII)

The Kunkle 189C is a heavy duty safety valve for cryogenic and liquefied air, oxygen and gas service — multi-stage air and gas compressors, intercoolers, aftercoolers and receivers, thermal expansion relief, and full rated capacity discharge on air, gas and liquefied gas lines and systems. A unique three-piece disc assembly with a PTFE seat and seal gives leak-free performance across the whole pressure and temperature range, a control ring allows precise blowdown adjustment, and a pivot between disc and spring corrects misalignment and compensates for spring side thrust. Every valve is 100% tested and inspected for set pressure, blowdown and leakage, and all adjustments are factory sealed to prevent tampering. This variant has a pressure-tight threaded cap and a 1/2″ FNPT inlet with a 3/4″ FNPT outlet. Construction is a bronze SB-62 housing with stainless steel trim (nozzle and disc). Set pressure range is 1,000 to 2,500 PSIG (69 to 172.4 barg), relieving 607 to 1,506 SCFM at 1,000 to 2,500 psig, over a temperature range of -320°F to 350°F (-195°C to 177°C). ASME Section VIII and Section XIII code service with the ‘UV’ designator, National Board certified. IMPORTANT: the pressure-tight cap makes this variant suitable for GAS SERVICE ONLY. Maximum back pressure is 50 psig. Back pressure increases set pressure on a one-to-one basis and reduces capacity; back pressure in excess of 10% of set pressure is not recommended.
