Kunkle 337 Safety Valve — 2-1/2″ NPT, 1-60 PSIG (Air/Gas ASME Section VIII)

The Kunkle 337 is a cast iron safety valve for the protection of low to medium pressure high volume blowers, compressors, conveying systems and bulk hauling trailers and equipment. It uses a large nozzle design for high capacity, flat lapped bronze seats, and an adjustable regulator ring that allows precise opening with minimum pre-open or simmer; the pivot between disc and spring corrects misalignment and compensates for spring side thrust. The 337 has a ‘lift-pin’ lift device for easy manual testing. It is set between 1 and 60 psig (0.07 to 4.1 barg) over a temperature range of -20°F to 406°F (-29°C to 208°C). This 2-1/2″ variant has an orifice area of 2.786 in² (17.974 cm²) and relieves 364 to 3,544 SCFM of air depending on set pressure. ASME Section VIII and Section XIII code service with the ‘UV’ designator, National Board certification and PED certification for non-hazardous gas apply at set pressures of 15 psig and above. Below 15 psig the valve is supplied non-code and carries no code stamp and no ‘NB’ marking on the nameplate – specify your required set pressure when requesting a quote. Note that ASME valves made from cast iron A126 may not be used for lethal or flammable service. Bronze disc and nozzle are standard, with stainless steel A479 TY 316 disc and nozzle optional; threaded NPT or BSPT connections – specify when requesting a quote. Every valve is tested and inspected for pressure setting and leakage before shipping.
