Kunkle 389
Kunkle Model 389 heavy duty safety valves are the all-stainless member of the 189/363/389 cryogenic family — a stainless steel SA351-CF8M housing with stainless nozzle and disc, where the companion 189 and 363 are bronze. The 389 also spans the widest set pressure range of the three, 50 to 2,500 psig, against 50 to 1,000 on the 363 and 1,000 to 2,500 on the 189. Three-piece disc assembly with a PTFE seat and seal, control ring for precise blowdown adjustment, ½” or ¾” FNPT inlet with a ¾” FNPT outlet, −320°F to 350°F, relieving 38 to 1,506 SCFM of air. ASME Sections VIII and XIII with the ‘UV’ designator, National Board certified. Built for cryogenic and liquefied air, oxygen and gas service on multi-stage compressors, intercoolers, aftercoolers and receivers. Note that the 389 has no plain lift lever version: it is supplied as the 389C with a pressure-tight threaded cap for gas service only, or the 389P with a packed lift lever. Both are limited to 50 psig maximum back pressure.
